Is the Skyview going to sub for the PFD4000 for now, or at least be fully supported?
Why? 'Cause I see an IFD in all the Skyview panel pics, on the Dynon site. * Orest Edited by oskrypuch - 23 Jul 2017 at 5:49pm |

I was blown away by that announcement. When I bought the IFD, I almost didn't since I saw the signs of low cost avionics (Dynon D5) coming. Good catch on the IFD though. I missed that. If it does, I'll be getting one! If it doesn't I'll be looking at options...

Avionics marketplace is going to undergo a radical rearrangement; some winners, many losers.

Just to be complete, the Dynon website (they now have a section - Dynon Certified).
They specifically state the Skyview system works with GNS/GTN and IFD navigators.

I don't know if it matters or not, but remember these systems are not built to the same level of testing that full certified equipment goes through. I can speak for myself only, but I find comfort in the rigorous testing that accompanies full certification like the IFDs went through. Given a choice, I would spend the money on a PFD4000 over a Dynon product. I fly a lot of IFR in IMC and want to have the most reliable system I can.
I'm not saying that I wouldn't buy one, only that I'd prefer a Certified solution. Edited by Gring - 23 Jul 2017 at 9:20pm |

The "testing" done in the real world in 1,000's of RV (or comparable) aircraft absolutely dwarfs the testing that can be done is some controlled environment with a hand full of test planes. To some degree it's anecdotal and retrospective but I would have zero problems putting one of them in my plane next to the IFD 550! I'm so dang giddy I can't sit still. |

I hear what your saying, but I think that field performance and reliability can offset what certification buys you. Both of my most recent certified avionics purchases have had issues.

Meh. I've done many approaches to CAT I mins or close to it with my Skyview, plus lots and lots of acro. Zero errors, and it works great with the IFD540. |

Can that Dynon powered RV-6A do a partial panel inverted ILS or LPV to CAT I mins?

Never tried both at the same time. But the Dynon has been through lots of flight conditions that few certified boxes ever see. I'm more confident in the Dynon's ability to recover after an upset than I am a <competing brand *1000> as a result.
