I have been unable to find out how to configure my IFD to show the Europe TMZ airspaces on the map or retrieve the corresponding transponder code and listening frequency.
These are mostly common in Germany, but have started to appear in other countries and there are rumours that they'll be added soon to Switzerland. Has anyone else been able to solve this? Steve, Is this information missing? If it is there, how can it be configured on the map and the transponder code and frequency retrieved? Touching the map on one doesn't bring it up in one of the airspace boxes, and the frequencies are not listed in the Enroute freq tab if the FPL goes through one. |

TMZ are not in the database specification, so I'll have to work with Jeppesen to see if they encoded then using some other class of airspace.

Thanks for the information.
For info, ForeFlight does show them but I don't know if the info comes from Jeppesen or the national AIPs. The TMZs are on the ICAO charts, and are normally (always?) a subset of E airspace. See snapshots below. As suggested, the info could be an additional airspace window when one touches a spot on the map, and also an additional FREQ Enroute tab entry like the missing FIS frequencies that we've been requesting. Any news on this? TMZ airspaces should be added immediately, because TMZ rules are mandatory!

As I mentioned upthread, the ARINC-424 database specification
does not have TMZ as a classification. I
was hoping that maybe Jeppesen included them as some other classification or
created a supplemental classification.
Sadly, that is not the case.
Jeppesen confirmed that TMZ are not coded in the source data. As a result, the IFD has no knowledge of them
and they will not appear on the map. |
