Sorry for the miss post but her his the rest of the message.
I am operating a 540 running ver 10.1.0.0  the map orientation is grayed out in the user setup page and I cannot get the unit to change map display orientation at all.  It states the it is set for "Track Up" but displays "North Up" and this cannot be changed.  Also the display cannot be changed to "ARC" mode it is stuck in 360 degree display mode.  Any suggestions ????
Thanks

The User Setting you are referencing allows you to use either GPS track or Aircraft Heading for the MAP.  In order to use Heading, you need to have avionics that will provide the IFD540 heading information ie Aspen, KCS55 HSI, etc. with heading output.  Since it is greyed out, you either don't have that type of equipment, or it isn't wired, or it isn't setup properly.

To change the orientation of the MAP, you simply push the lower right small knob to cycle between North Up, Track up Arc, Track up (centered).

This really is such a common new user issue.

Well I might be a new user, but I know that turning the small right hand knob "Should" change the display but it does NOTHING !!!!
Thats why I posted the question, seeing that it states that it should do something in the manual...
Also a reset of the unit still does nothing.  I guess I am asking if there is some setting that is in the install menu pages that need configured.

It is not turning the small right knob that changes the map orientation, it is pushing the small right knob that changes it.

Not really a slight on you. It may be a documentation issue.
