What are the chances that Avidyne will offer a full suite of avionics?
With this new Vantage screen it would be really nice (although getting anything through FAA is a huge roadblock, as opposed to the experimental market) to outfit a complete package as the big “G” and Dynon (for experimental)have done.
PFD/MFD, digital autopilot (including servos) and our IFD units would make a nice package. I’ll keep my engine monitoring separate from my Nav package although it looks cool on the MFD.
I’m getting long in the tooth and so is my 400B.

Well, depends what you fly. For an Integra Cirrus, you now have a full update package, the Vantage (when fully certified), a pair of IFDs and the DFC-90. Done!

I love the Avidyne gear, and recommend it everywhere I go. But for any other aircraft, the average Piper or Cessna, it will/would take a lot of development time & treasure for a PFD/ND/FMS suite, so I won't hold my breath.

But, I would be delighted to be proven wrong.

Doesn’t the DFC drive only STEC servos?
(Friends don’t let friends fly plastic airplanes) ;-)

Yes. That generation of Cirrus comes with a 55x, so an easy slide in upgrade.

In fairness the DFC90 is also STC'd to replace a 55x in a C182 and a Bonanza/Baron as well.

I do have A36 time, but don't fly one now.

I agree completely.

For the entry Piper or Cessna, if one wants to avoid G* then there is really only a combination of Avidyne & Dynon to get a full suite. Given the existing competition between Garmin and Dynon in that market, the cost vs market share potential doesn't seem to add up for an Avidyne entry at this stage of the game.

Of course for the Bonanza & higher performance Cessna/Piper models the equation is a bit more murky. The Stec 3100 comes into play and there hasn't been any DFC development for a decade.... a shame because it was ahead of its time. Avidyne could easily have pre-empted the 3100 market share but probably had to make some hard decisions on where to put the development $$$.
