Is it actually possible to install one of these right now? I'd like to replace the ancient panel in my Six when I install the IFD540 that will be here Any Day Now™.

Technically no. We built a number and then we had a lull in production. Those that were built are all gobbled up.
It is certified and you should plan on a 1 July 2014 availability for the next batch that are in production. |

In other words, you guys want the AMP240 to ship at the same time we ship you the IFD540, right?

Steve:
I think most if not all of us are probably waiting for the GPS, transponder, and possibly the comm panel. Only makes sense to open the panel up once, so having all 3 available in synchrony with the GPS STC would be a real win. I personally wish you had some sort of ADS-B solution ready to go as well, as well as the servos for the DFC 90, but one takes what one can get. DMG

Yes Steve, that is correct. I'm planning a cockpit upgrade around the 540, so I only want to open the panel once. This reminds me: I've called sales a few times to see if I can get a preliminary ICD
for the 440 but I never get an answer. I bought a Garmin 430 tray, two WAAS antenna's, two CDIs and my plan was to wire up everything on the bench creating a harness and install everything. (I want the 540 and 440 to talk to each other) That way when you ship the 440, all I need to do slide it into the tray. I realize that any information I would get would be preliminary and I wont hold you to it, but if its right it sure would make the effort and cost easier.

Tony,
For the purposes of what you're trying to accomplish, I think you can use the IFD540 IM and consider that to be almost exactly applicable to the IFD440. The only real difference I can think of is the 540 has an extra connector. For your installer, have him imagine trying to connect a 530 to a 430. It will be the same answer as a 540 to a 440. |

Yes, Steve-- I'd like to open the panel once, and once only, so having an AMX available around the same time as I install the 540 would be ideal. I didn't buy the bundle though, so I'm guessing that I'll be at the back of the queue, which is fine.

I'm in a similar situation. I want to replace the old audio panel. The two contenders are the AMX240 and the PMA8000BT. The decision will be up to my wife - we'll get the one she likes best.
If none of the dealers have a display model we'll either make the pilgrimage to Lincoln, MA or bludgeon Steve into flying the 182 to 6B6 (where gas costs several dollars a gallon less than at KBED) so we can look at one. If the AMX240 isn't available for purchase then she won't like it as much and will go with the PMA8000BT. |

Not measuring with the cover plates off but I have a standard Garmin stack, 530/430/330/340 and the ruler measurement "should" allow for the replacement of the 430 with a 540 which will completely fill the standard A36 rack. Ergo the need for a Avidyne product to replace the 330 with an ADS-B in and out solution even if it requires additional antenna installation. Thought I would mention it again in the even Steve missed my 20 or so earlier posts asking for this magic box....

So, is the AMX240 available again? There was a post saying July 1, 2014. I'm seriously thinking of replacing my audio panel when I put the 540 in.
