I wasn't sure if I should post this here your in the MLB100 forum, but since I think it's a display feature and not a receive function, I think it should be here.
When the MLB100 is delivered and the associated software update for the IFD540, will it use the veritas traffic display? I don't see that symbology in the sim for the traffic display. If not, is veritas a future feature?

Future Feature.
For readers of this thread, he's asking about "VeriTAS" which is the enhanced traffic detection algorithm associated with TSAA and our improved TAS products.
VeriTAS has two components: 1. VeriTAS
is the predictive collision avoidance logic/algorithms that we (and MIT)
developed for ADS-B. It should (eventually) be part of the ADS-B MOPS
that any manufacturer can adopt. Theortetically, the Avidyne IFD540 +
MLB100 traffic will support these new industry-standard collision avoidance
alerts but the initial release of the MLB100 will come out before the VeriTAS algorithms have been certified. 2. With our TAS-A systems, VeriTAS includes this collision avoidance technology, plus the correlation of Active and Passive (ADS-B) targets. VeriTAS also eliminates nuisance alerts. |

So, the TAS-A (eg. the 605"A") upgrade will only become available when VeriTAS is certified?

No, not exactly.
Step 1 - certify the new hardware whose software is functionally equivalent to today's existing TAS. This is TAS-A hardware and will start shipping as such when it's done in a few months. This opens the opportunity to upgrade existing TAS systems to TAS-A equipment (but it doesn't provide much new capability yet until Step 2 is complete). Step 2 - update the software to include the VeriTAS functionality when that's done and certified (should be a few months after the hardware and supporting software in Step 1 is complete). Step 3 - sell millions of these devices.

Ah, check.
And, for other folks, here is the Avidyne skinny on it: http://www.avidyne.com/products/tas600a/veritas.asp * Orest |
