Just had my 440 installed and having a cross sync error

and the keyboard convenience is grayed and un-selectable

the avionics shop was on the phone w tech support during install and said the data bases have to match

did the data base update for both units but still the cross sync error is not going away

any ideas ???

I had the same problem. check the switches on the side of the boxes. one box needs to be set as the master. there is a description in the install manuals how the switches need to be set

You will need to pull the units out of the rack to access the dip switches that control the IFD assignment number. They are located on the side of the unit. Having databases with different cycles will not affect the ability to cross sync. It will only affect the data that is synced. So for instance, flight plan info will not sync, but keyboard convenience will.

The dip switch was the key. All working well now.

Thanks for the help.
