The FAA has just granted STC/TSO approval for Release 10.2. This applies to the IFD440, 410, 550, 545, 540, 510.
Avidyne Sales and Marketing will have info on how to get it in your airplane shortly (most are deployed to various trade shows right now). |

The myriad of emails I've just gotten from Apple indicate the Release 10.2 trainer app is available for download too.
I don't think the IFD100 app is downloadable yet but I haven't looked in the public App store yet for that today.

The IFD100 will be out shortly. There is a lag time between the FAA approval and it being available in the app store. We will keep everyone posted.

It's there now. If you search under "Avidyne" it's a new app not just an update to the old one. The old one can be deleted.

It looks like there may be evolving issues with Jepp?
Installing the IFD trainer, to get navdata for it requires another device license (which the old sim didn't). Jepp doesn't know much about this - their tech support called this the "IFD100" - I am hoping that doesn't require ANOTHER device license. |

A few things about the new trainer. If you want to use your Jepp subscription to keep your databases update or mirror what you have in the airplane, you can. That's what that initial log in screen is allowing you to do. If you dont want to use your account credentials, you can select "EXIT" at the bottom left corner and it will load the sim with demo data that may be out of date.

Apple App store, loaded "IFD Trainer", on start-up it went to a page that made me log on to Jepp with our account. Downloaded Nav Terrain and base map data to match what we have in a/c. Started Sim. It came up with "Do I want to enable Bluetooth for this flight, I said no/ignore. Simm seems to function as expected , including the new SVS tab. (:>)

Haven't seen that error message before. I recommend uninstalling it and reinstalling it. When you get to the Jepp screen, press exit and it should be good to go.

I experienced the same problem. However I simply kept retrying and eventually I got the necessary download screen and I now have the same database as in the aircraft. I didn't have to reinstall the app. I did however have to reload the app, by double clicking and 'flicking it out' of the list. I'm guessing the problem is server congestion. Fill out the form, and you'll get an email with a link to the actual download page. As I post this, that page still only has the 10.1 version of the PC sim, though. I'm also looking forward to the Android version (of the sim, and of the IFD100!).

Simpson, in the past Steve said that software updates could be made by any A&P. If this is a simple update I would like my A&P perform the update I talked to tech support yesterday and they told me I had to go to an Avidyne dealer to get the update. Has Avidyne changed their policy?
