I loaded my nav and charts yesterday and my unit crashed with flipping blank then trying to reboot. I reformatted the thumb drive, reloaded data and tried to update again, no luck. I called Avidyne and they felt loading nav on a separate drive, charts on another, and so on. They felt one set of data might corrupt the other upon loading. Has anyone heard of this issue? This procedure seems so backward having three thumb drives to update. I dont think this happens to Garmin units. Any thoughts? I did not upgrade to the new 10.2 version yet

Odd story. There used to be a problem with corrupting the USB drives on power down if you pulled the drive a little too soon, after the update, which would then confuse the IFD on reboot or on the subsequent update. This was fixed in a software release (ignores the corrupted state), I think perhaps even before 10.2. If this is the case, if you look at the USB drive on your laptop, you will see a bunch of odd small files. You can fix it up by a doing a CHKDSK or reformating.
You really should update to 10.2. * Orest |

I'm scheduled to upgrade this month to 10.2. also, does anyone use separate stick drives for each database and can 16 gb stick drives work?
