Clayton at Free Flight states the dual band RANGR is due for
release at the end of May!!!

There is indeed a dual band version of the Ranger:  RANGER FDL-978-RXD   <--- note the "D",

If a dual-band ADS-B In unit were offered, I’d consider upgrading my SkyTrax 100. I don’t think any of the Ranger units are capable, though.

There is a news release on the Avidyne website from mid-March explaining that it is basically the RANGER FDL-978-RX unit. Also, I believe IFD software update 10.2.1.0 added support for RANGER UATs.

Will this remain an off-shelf Rangr, or are you planning any firmware customization? I assume that it can also supply various EFBs on tablets directly (wirelessly) with ADS-B data, as an alternative WiFi from the IFD units.
