I’ve heard recently about gps rollover week sort of like the y2k scare years ago, but this one must be different, my ifd550 master clock just reset to August 1999.  How do I get it reset ?

Get the GPS rollover patch at https://lz314.infusionsoft.com/app/form/gpsrolloverupdate. Your avionics shop can also get it for you.

I just did the rollover patch on my IFD-540.
I have a ~5yo battery kept on a maintainer.
I have a cigarette lighter voltmeter.
I turned all of the avionics off except the 540.
The uptdate took only about 10 minutes to complete, but
I had the master and avionics master and 540 on for 30 minutes
to complete going through the verification of files etc.  It would have
been less had I not forgotten to open the PDF file on my laptop
with the service bulletin and had to re-download on my phone to go
through the verification procedure.
Through the 30 minutes my bus voltage actually increased on the voltmeter
from 11.1V  to 11.2V.  When I turned all of my avionics back on the voltage
decreased to 10.9 volts almost immediately.

So:
Start with a good battery in the airplane.
Keep the battery maintainer plugged in and all unnecessary current draws turned off.
Have the Service Bulletin open on your laptop or phone before you start.
Follow the procedure...quite simple actually.
In my case I didn't need an external power source.

BUT:  This is just recounting my experience.  Do not consider it instructions
for your airplane.   Follow the Avidyne procedure!!!!

I updated April 12th.  I saw no difference before/after (meaning no problems). Saw an UTC mismatch message after update but I had seen it about a month ago also.
