I recently purchased a 2006 Piper Cherokee 6XT (PA-32-301XTC) with the Avidyne Entegra system. Love the plane and the avionics.
I flew the plane home with my CFI. Afterwards we both thought that we had seen engine temp data (vertical bars) sometimes, but not constantly, displayed on the left side of the PFD near the dials for MP and RPM. We could not find any reference to this in the manuals. And we have not seen it since. Are we mistaken/crazy? Yes, we know they can appear in the top left corner of the MFD. I asked our PFD guy and he said...
There is a Piper-specific engine data popup that comes and goes, but it’s not temperature, it’s based on Oil Pressure. For a 6XT, oil pressure must be between 24 and 115 PSI. It typically appears during startup and it will show for a minimum of 3 minutes. There are no bar gauges for that airplane, the only display that comes and goes is the engine data popup. He also recommended that you get the PFD upgraded. Newer software adds logging capabilities that will help diagnose any issues you may encounter and also adds features like in-field ADU calibration, which would probably be a good thing to do at this point. |

Thanks for the info!
So, I suppose this means we're only "mostly" crazy. :)
