I have been regularly updating my IFD440 Jepp Nav Data month by
month since Cycle 1706 - May 2017 - but now, unable to get to my hangar
for 49 days due to the Covid-19 lockdown, I have two updates to upload -
Cycles 2004 & 2005 - March & April 2020.
So, my
question is: can I download both Jepp updates onto the Avidyne memory
stick in one download session, go to my hangar and transfer the two
updates into my IFD440 in one go ? Or do I need to download the updates onto the memory stick separately and transfer them into the IFD one at a time ? Edited by ackagee - 04 May 2020 at 10:04pm |

The IFD can only hold one cycle of data, so you just need to install 2005.
The expired cycles are of no use, unless you want to install expired data and fly with that. Since you have the current 2005 cycle available, that is the one to load onto the stick and transfer into the IFD. If you don't plan to fly soon or don't know when you'll next fly, an alternative is to wait and load the current cycle when you're ready to fly again, if it is after 21 May which is when 2006 starts.

Many thanks for that. I was concerned that it might be like updating the AIP where, if one skipped an update, you would have some outdated plates in the aircraft...
