I have a IFD-540 previously backed up by a Garmin 430W.
The 430W has had an internal failure, so I've ordered a 440 and plan
to do the slide-in swap.
I'm wondering how you use your 440, particularly in the backup position.
Since I'm doing the slide-in, I won't have cross-talk.
Would you use the IFD100 and 440 together?  Do you update the
NavData on both units?

If I understand right you will now have a 540 and 440?  Yes, you will need to update the Nav data on both.  I believe you should be able to set up cross feeding between them.  Once you have both a 540 and 440,  you will decide which unit the IFD 100 talks to assuming they both have WiFi.

I pretty much use it in the exocentric SV view all the time. It’s great to have in my instrument scan during approaches.   And of course as my COM2.

Thanks!  I didn't even think of the Exocentric view.  I thought I would just end up using it
like I did the 430W,  A direct-to for the final destination and a backup approach using map view.
A appreciate the reply.
