Well I finally dropped the big bucks (after doing an IFD 540/APX 340/ AMX 240 upgrade 4 yers ago).

I now have an EI MVP 50 and Dual G5’s installed. The extra integration is great

I see the winds displayed on the UTIL-CALCULATOR page, but when I select WIND VECTOR for display on the left data block, it always shows up as dashes. I installed the latest IFD 540 software in May 2020. Any ideas?

To get the wind vector, you need both TAS and heading data. TAS depends on OAT. You didn't say whether your G5s include the OAT probe; if not, that's probably the problem. If you do have OAT on the G5, then I'm out of guesses.

Thanks for the reply.  You may have skipped the details.  The IFD already is showing the winds and TAS on the UTIL CALCULATOR page --my OAT is coming from the MVP-50.  It seems odd that the IFD 540 will calculate and show the data on the UTIL pages but NOT when i set them for display on the left data blocks.  Wierd

You're right-- I thought you meant that you could use UTIL-CALCULATOR to figure the winds, which is totally not what you actually wrote.

Since one of the things I most want to work after my Aspen upgrade is the wind vector block, I'm very interested in seeing what you find out.
