I have been trying to characterize the issues with using the XP trainer flying ILS approaches in xPlane.

I believe this is related to the ILS issue that Ricardo documented here. here: http://avidynelive.com/workaround-for-ifd-xp-trainer-ap-bug_topic2444.html

This seems to only occur if you activate an ILS approach while in GPS mode. and then  switch the nav source to NAV.
I have identified that the trainer is sending erroneous CDI errors (number of dots off) to the instruments. Using a network analyzer I have discovered that the trainer is sending these two xrefs with the wrong values.

xPlane tries to correct them which causes the needles to fight as shown in the video linked here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PPTHkWlv2ilY0QhXWoUGoLz73dnVuXZy/view?usp=sharing
At the end of the video when the needles calm down it is because I killed the Avidyne app on the iPad.
If the approach is activated while nav source is selected to NAV this issue does not occur.

What network analyzer are you using? I have been interested in doing some of this investigation myself but haven't found a suitable tool. (Where "suitable" includes "very inexpensive"!)
