How about it...looks like Navworx has a UAT out that many of us will be interested in. Is the 540/440, or will the 540/440 be compatible with the Navworx UAT as a compatible display and certified position source?

I'm going to wait another week or two to answer. There is a reason for the delay.

So, with the announcement of the MLB100, will there be any plans to support using the IFD540/440 as a display for the Navworx ADS600? |

I want to answer but I can't. I know that sounds cheesy and dodgy but I must hold fire.

Didn't y'all publicly say that the IFD540 would support Capstone display protocol?
Seems to me that answers the Navworx question unless I am missing nuance...

Yes we said that but I can't go any further on the topic. Not sure how long that state will last. Not trying to talk in BS mystical terms. You just have to trust me. (I hate taking this position...)

Jake you are not going to make it into politics:
Avidyne's strong suit is not making timelines, on a number of levels, but I've not seen the company renege on public commitments. They have kept their word. If a Capstone statement exists (and it has), and if the Navworx box outputs Capstone, then Q.E.D. If I wanted a Capstone box in my panel, with the statements already made, I wouldn't hesitate to go ahead (though it might not happen in my flying career - timelines, again). Resurrecting this thread as unless I am mistaken the question remains to be answered.
I just bought 2 NavWorx ADS600-EXP UAT's. I really would like to be able to display ADS-B FIS-B weather on my IFD-440. Will I be able to display ADS-B from my NavWorx ADS600-EXP on the IFD-440? |

Release 10.1.0.0 will support ADS-B FIS-B weather on the IFD540 and IFD440 when sourced from the Avidyne MLB100 (spring 2015 availability).
It is possible that the ADS600 will be supported in a future release but nothing has been defined to that level of detail at this point. |

I appreciate your rapid reply here. You understand what this means... I would have to spend what $2,500 for the MLB100, and install a redundant device, add the additional power supply, wiring and weight of a redundant device. It does not make sense to do so. For less than that I can buy a "G" ads-b receiver (also redundant) and one of their portable GPS units as a ADS-B display and backup GPS. Alternately I could use the tablet I already have in the plane and pay for over 20 years worth of subscriptions to an EFB such as iFly GPS which will display the NavWorx ADS-B. This means the MLB100 is not the answer for me. NavWorx supports capstone. Avidyne has issued press release that Avidyne Supports Standard Capstone Interface for Display of ADS-B Traffic & Weather Services http://www.avidyne.com/news/press.asp?release=286 What is the issue here? It is discouraging and on the surface appears contradictory to the officially stated position linked above. |

Yes I understand what this means.
I do need to push back a little bit. Avidyne DOES support the Capstone Interface. I've made several posts to this effect in the past but the dirty little secret is that the "Capstone Protocol" is not standard and varies in interpretation and implementation from vendor to vendor. The general public (me included) have been duped into thinking it truly was a standard "standard". I hope we'll find the time and priority to include other vendor devices when it comes to successful integration of ADS-B In devices, especially those that declare to be "Capstone Protocol". In the interest of time-to-market, we had to nail down one specific protocol and go with it for this first go-around. |
