Please forgive if there's prior discussion on this - did a search and couldn't find.
I'm considering going with UAT instead of 1090ES for ADSB out compliance, and as far as I know, only the Garmin GDL88 has both in/out in a single box. Will the GDL88 display traffic/weather on the IFD540?

Not compatible, and ziltch chance that *armin will make it work. It would be best to wait other UAT solutions.

On 2/6/15 I was visiting with the head of avionics where I am having my GDL88 installed and he said that within the next 60 days, Avidyne would have the interface for the GDL88 to work with the IFD540's. I currently have a 530w and 430w that I would like to replace with two of your IFD540's, however I need to be sure there is a working solution for interfacing my GDL88 and having the information show on your screens. Can you confirm that there is a fix for this problem in development and that it should be complete within the next 60, or even 90 days? Jim |

No, that is wishful thinking and not true. I don't believe anyone at Avidyne has told anyone this will be the case.
The IFD540 and 440 will be able to display ADS-B In weather and traffic on the displays within the next 60 days but the GDL-88 is not a viable source (not our doing).

Reference the general question about GDL-88 support, we won't lose a deal because of GDL-88 economics. For those folks who have a GDL-88, the combined Avidyne Sales - Local Dealer team will find a creative solution that provides the same capability for a net $0 transaction.
