Hi, a lot of question since I am buying Piper Seneca V. Would like to Upgrade GNS430 to WAAS and have the possibillity to fly Precision Rnav With vertical guidance on the Avidyne Entegra 5000. Autopilot is S-TEC55X Current software is PFD R8.0.6 and MFD R7.0.2 Does the Avidyne require additional software upgrade in order to display vertical path on-screen?? If needed, could it be done at the local dealer? This would be Nice to know since I am discussing details With dealer/seller. Brgds Harald |

Look at the software part number when you start the PFD, if it is P/N:530-00194-xxx or later your PFD is good to go. You will just need to replace the GPS antenna and cable for WAAS.
This is from the Avidyne Tech Support knowledge base. EXP5000 PFD Requirements for upgrading GPS/NAV/COM to WAAS***** The Following Information Is For Reference Use Only***** *****For Approved Data Please Refer to The Associated Installation Manual; Pilot Guide or Flight Manual Supplement***** When the aircraft is having the GPS/NAV/COM updated to WAAS, the PFD must be at R7 (P/N:530-00194-xxx) or later. This upgrade cannot take place in the field, the PFD must be returned to Avidyne for upgrade. See this also for additional requirements for WAAS http://www.avidyne.c |
