I can't get the map to work heading up or track up. No matter what I do, it's stuck in north up mode. I can change user settings for map orientation but it makes no difference.

If you search a bit, the basic answer is in the forum.... pushing the lower right knob when in map mode toggles this.
Once set, it should be remembered across pwr cycles, but that doesn't seem to happen at least not for me.... unless it only comes into effect once a gps lock is made and/or FPN is active or something like that. I've never waited that long. |

Thanks. I'll try tomorrow. Will get used to forum search feature too. Just first day of flying with it is n my wat back from avionics shop. Kpia - n14 played with it enough and have few issues bothering me. Si I'll go search the forum as people have been flying 10.1.2 so they should all be reported already.

Welcome to the forums, Sanjiv.
10.1.3 is the current firmware, I sure hope I can update that assertion, real soon.

I think my map switches to "north up" mode everytime I load new navdata. After I reset it to "heading up" seems to remember that setting for the remainder of the data cycle.

I'm pretty sure that you have to have a gps "lock" before the map will orient. I think patience is the key here.

It also helps if you are moving. If the airplane is stationary, there is no track, so it can't decide what direction is "track up" and the display is north-up.
It takes two things to orient to track-up: 1) GPS lock 2) a track direction After that, it's a toss-up if the unit remembers that it was last in track-up view.

You also need to be on the map page and not on the FMS page with the map showing.

Sangiv: I see you are also at N14. I've had my IFD540 for two years, still learning but I'm fairly proficient, If you want to fly some day together let me know. I'm in Hangar 14.
