Is it possible to upload waypoints to the IFDs from a GPX file? This is useful if you fly in and around Denali National Park: Helps to keep you out of trouble. Fortunately for us, when we were there this year traffic was dramatically diminished. The other plane had a GTN with the GPX loaded, so they reported for us, as a flight of two.

According to the GTN PG, user waypoints need to be in .csv format before they can be read in from the SD card. There is no mention of a way to import user waypoints from .gpx files. Is your colleague able to explain how he got the data into the GTN?
I'm not aware of any way other than manual to enter user waypoints into the IFD. There are a couple of threads on this, and there was a technique for entering these in bulk into the Windows version of the iFD trainer via a VBS macro run against a .txt file. But that depends on using the Trainer in maintenance mode to backup the user waypoints (.002) to a usb and then reading them into the actual IFD. That no longer works since the Windows IFD Trainer is no longer supported (i.e. doesn't simulate the latest software release) and the newer IFD releases use a different backup file format that is not compatible with previous releases. The iOS IFD Trainer doesn't support maintenance mode. Edited by chflyer - 03 Jan 2021 at 6:04pm |

It appears I was mistaken. The other aircraft has an Aera as well as the GTN. Waypoints were loaded in the Aera! My mistake! Thank you Vince! Hopefully we get a working, current trainer soon so we can import/export waypoints. :-)
