    Posted: 17 Oct 2020 at 12:04am
I just today picked up my Cirrus SR22 after having a full-Avidyne stack installed. Other that some minor frustrations with Jeppesen and getting the charts and such current, I only have one question so far:

I occasionally see a yellow MSG indicator on the EX5000 PFD (at the bottom-center of the PFD) and I can't seem to find a way to dismiss the indicator. Having something tying to alert me, but not being able to find out what it is or how to resolve it is a bit frustrating and maybe even concerning.

Does anyone know how to do this?

My current config:
  • EX5000 PFD/MFD
  • AMX
  • IFD550
  • IFD440
  • DFC90
In case it matters, I have the Lynx 9000 remote transponder.

Thanks in advance,

Bobby

If you dismiss the message on the IFD, Do you still see it on the PFD?

Well… I at least thought I dismissed any alerts on both IFDs. I went to the AUX ALERTS page and tapped each alert, the pressed both ENTR and CLR (but neither took the alert away on the IFD or on the PFD).

Is there another way to dismiss the alerts on the IFD?

I’ll be flying later today and also tomorrow, so I’m sure I’ll figure out the correct sequence/pattern to dismiss it, but it isn’t obvious so far.

Good news.

Today I flew and was able to confirm that the alerts that appear on the AUX ALERTS page are indeed the trigger for the MSG on the PFD, and they can be cleared by tapping on them, then CLR. Sometimes they clear immediately, and other times it takes several seconds, but some patience and it does resolve eventually.

Also flew today (SR 22 with Avidyne), one of the MSG on the IFD was for an alert area, it stayed on the IFD until I change heading away from the area, then it disappeared, and the MSG on the on the PFD also extinguished.

I had the same thing today; some alerts such as airspace; MOAs, SUAs, Class C, etc. can't be cleared from the IFD and therefore the MSG flag on the PFD can't be cleared. Now that I understand the linkage, I'll start to tinker a bit with airspace alert settings on the IFD.

BTW, I found the ENTR button clears the alert rather than the CLR button.

Are you running the latest software - 10.2.4.1?  If not, some nuisance alerts will keep the yellow MSG message on PFD even when cleared.

10.2.4.1 is available for owner install and will clear some of these nuisance alerts.

Both of my IFDs are running 10.2.4.1.

I'll investigate more about the alert clearing in the release notes. Since my first touch of these (Friday) they've been running 10.2.4.1, so I didn't see a change; only the result.
