Wonder if we can get clarification as to status of IFD 100 software: Being held by Avidyne or awaiting apple for approval to be released ? Called tech support and they did not have any information. Thanks.

It's in the apple store approval process per avidyne. That usually takes no more than a week. It should be out this week I would assume.

It is pending approval from Apple, which can take anywhere from 3 to 30 days.

As we anxiously await the IFD100 release from Apple; can anyone confirm that the IFD100 will run on an iPad mini (provided it meets the supported iOS and memory requirements)? The IFD100 QRG doesn't specifically mention the iPad mini as a supported platform; however, doesn't specifically exclude it either.
All of the promotional videos I have seen as well as the Avidyne booth at AirVenture 2016 demonstrate the IFD100 on full size iPads. If the iPad mini is a supported IFD100 platform, then can someone (from Avidyne?) post screenshots or pictures of how the IFD100 app looks on an iPad mini in both portrait and landscape views? |

I don't know of any apps that are dependent on the size of the iPad. There are certainly some apps that require the functionality of the Pro iPads, but there has never been an app that was only supported on the full size iPads and not on the Mini. I wouldn't expect the IFD100 to be any different.
There are also apps that are supported on the iPhone but not iPad and vice versa.

The IFD100 should work just fine on the mini as long as it is up to date on software.

If you're checking daily, it sounds like you'll be the first to know.

Thanks, Simpson. I have it downloaded and running on my IPAD Mini and will have a great opportunity this afternoon to flight test it.
Question: Does it matter if the Jepp subscription is not exactly in sync between the IFD100 and the IFD540? For example: Can I load the future March 30th NavData on the IFD100 and have the current NavData on the 540?

Should have read the manual first :). Answers my question.
"DIFFERENT NAV DATABASES
The IFD100 and the panel installed IFD do not have to have the
same cycle navigation database however, the panel installed IFD
will not share flight plan information with the IFD100 (or vice
versa)"

The nav data on the IFD panel unit must exactly match the IFD100.

Just downloaded it from the App Store. Unfortunately, still have to get my units upgraded to 10.2 to really test it. |

Very interesting. The download from Jepp worked fine, and I am able to load FMS routes and direct-to information, but on my desk without GPS input, it "thinks" we are in Boston. Very, very neat so far. Well done! |

Thank you,
Question, if I purchase an approach plate subscription from Jeppensen and I only have an ifd 440, will they display on the ifd 100 app when synced?

The initial screen for the IFD100 is a link to Jepp to download the plates/charts/data to the iPad IFD100 App. The indication for me, once I logged on to Jepp, was that I had an authorized account that could be used for the displayed list of downloads.

By the way, someone was asking about displays - I am using an iPad mini that I mount on the yoke of my 182RG. The display of the IFD100 app is very readable and well laid-out.

I've just downloaded and started the IFD100 app and logged in using my Jepp JDM id; the one I use for copying navdata to USB for transfer to the IFD540.
However, it comes back with a very strange Jepp serial number that starts with AVD1-..., says that 1 new device is allowed and is Unassigned with No coverage specified. When I activate it, the list of data sets is presented (like on the IFD Trainer). I can select and download my correct geo coverage (Central Europe) for the current 1703 cycle along with Worldwide Map Data and Europe Terrain. However, I have no option presented to download my subscription chart data (that I currently have in the IFD540). Should I be calling Jepp about this or Avidyne? If Jepp, what do I need to say to get connected to someone who has a clue about this (my last call there was no one who available who could help)? Apparently there is only one person in Jepp who has any idea and if he is not around then I'm out of luck. BTW, I'm offline and doing this at home. When I exit the Jepp part and app starts, I can enter a local (Europe) route fine and activate it, but the only chart available is for K02 and it has a big "not for navigation" across it, so it must a single default chart that is a place-holder until valid charts are downloaded.
