I totally understand if this is still something TBD or still kept under wraps until the system starts shipping. But I figured I'd ask anyway since I'm curious.

Will there be any sort of new model for database updates across IFDs and Vantage displays? Since it sounds like they'll all be connected with a new high speed bus, I was hoping maybe the updating would all be unified to one device and then shared internally across the network to the remaining devices. Or will we need to separately update IFD1/IFD2/PFD/MFD?

Thanks!

Ultimately, we would like to change the model to do as you suggested.  At this point, though, hardware limitations on the IFDs prevent us from doing that.  So at this point, you'll still have to update each unit.

The good news is that the Vantage units update at lightning speed - updating charts on an MFD takes just a few seconds.  Nav data never takes that long even on IFDs.  So if you update every unit with nav and obstacles and only update charts on the MFD, the whole process should take just a few minutes (maybe 5?) using a single USB stick.

I like it! Thanks. That makes sense skipping the charts on the IFD, if it's much faster to load them on MFD.
