SID & MAP database coding errors

   I wonder if this has ever been encountered in the US.
A number of SID and MAP procedures have been discovered in Europe where the ARP or some other location has been used as the initial SID or MAP waypoint rather than the runway threshold/center or the MAP where the legs should begin. This results in unexpected guidance from the navigator. The issue has arisen with both Garmin and Avidyne units and both Garmin and Jepp navdata. It seems to be a database coding error related to leg types and/or path terminators, likely an error on the part of the procedure designer (national authority). Given the much greater experience with procedure design, this type of error is less likely to ever happen at the FAA.

The two screenshots below are of the SONEB4C RWY 05 departure at EHGG and clearly show the wrong location of the starting waypoint for the SID.

It is a reminder how important it is to always ensure that the navigator guidance corresponds to what is expected, whether being flown by hand as would be the case in these two instances or by the autopilot.
