I'm out simulating an IFR flight, enter the cleared route then the approach.  I practice the full approach along with the published missed which results in a hold.  I now want to do another approach so what is the best buttonology to do so?

Enter 'Direct' to the same airport along with the approach?  Highlight the current destination, re-enter the approach then activate the leg?  Something else?

You can put in multiple approaches, all at once.

On the ground, input the ORIGIN, then the DESTINATION, add a procedure, scroll down to the bottom, add the (same) DESTINATION airport again, add a procedure. Hitting the PROC button more than once will cycle between the airports in the your flight plan, and STAR and APPR selects, as available.

You can use Orest's method to set up approaches to multiple airports if you're doing a round-robin practice flight. As he said, enter all the airports at the end of the flight plan, then press the PROC button to set up the approaches. Each press of the PROC button will bring up a different airport.

If you're just going back to do another approach at the same airport you can just press the PROC button while you're on the missed approach. It will bring up a list of approaches so you can select another on and the transition you want to use.

That's the nice thing about the IFD. You can set up the whole flight on the ground, including multiple airports and approaches, so as to reduce your workload in flight. Or you can get maximum flexibility by doing it all in flight. Just remember to fly the airplane first.

One other thing that might not be immediately intuitive about approaches, is how do you remove them altogether?

You select the approach (or STAR) in the destination airport's data block, and select CLR.
