I had a loss of GPS position twice today, once on IFD1 only, the second time on both simultaneously. The outage lasted a couple of minutes the first time, a minute or so the second time. During both, I had good signal and position on the NGT9000 GPS, so there was no shortage of satellites.
Neither of these happened during a crucial phase of flight, but are concerning. I never had a similar problem with the 430s. What's the procedure to get this investigated? I have downloaded the logs from the #1 IFD - where do I send them? Clyde |

This problem, although it is diminishing with each hardware change and software release, still seems to exists to some degree. I have had the same although it is pretty infrequent. Send the logs to tech support or to Jake who can forward them. If you contact tech support, they will give you the info for the FTP site to send them to. The more people that supply logs from this event, the better Avidyne will be able to diagnose the cause. Do you have the latest hardware mods and software?

It's Sergio Carlos that is heading this up for Avidyne. His contact info is: scarlos@avidyne.com
He'll need the time and date of the event and the full logs. We check the very extensive GPS logs and the configuration logs to see what hardware/software level you are at and exactly what the GPS was doing at the time of the reported event. Sergio will also supply the ftp site to load the logs to and directions on how to do that for people who are not familiar with ftp.

I also had a GPS issue this past Friday on the way to Tampa. IFD#2 dropped GPS signal several times (has every flight for months until today's flight back so not surprised about that). IFD#1 has never had an issue since the 10.1.1 update until the Friday flight, it dropped GPS signal around the 2 hour mark, I though it was good to go but guess not. Also have NGT9000 which indicated a good GPS signal the entire flight. Like many people these days I am busy with my business and family and have spent time travelling to my installer to get the latest updates hoping to correct the problem. I am not in a position download logs from the IFD's and upload logs to Sergio. So another trip to the shop is frustrating...

Without the logs, it can only be a wild guess. It doesn't take that long to download them, and send them along, then Sergio can have definitive advice for you.
That said, have you updated to all the hardware mods, recently, or ever? There are several that help with GPS issues. That requires a trip to the factory. They can cross-ship another unit, if you want your unit back, it may take up to two weeks.

Yes both boxes have been back for hardware mods when the 10.1.1 update was done. I was ok flying in IMC with one solid performing box but not now. Got to get it resolved now.
