I have a C172 and am looking to install an auto-pilot. What brand is compatible and works best with IFD440?

Trio and BK AeroCruze 100 (formerly Trutrak) will be your lowest-cost options and will function without the need to connect to an AI, TC or other instrument. They have built-in air and attitude instruments. They are not certified for instrument approaches even though they are capable of flying GPS approaches. They also integrate with the Aspen EFIS. The Dynon system, including autopilot has also been certified for the C172. That is a complete glass panel. Similar to that is the Garmin autopilots and displays. My preference would the be the Dynon over the Garmin if you already have an IFD, as Dynon has worked extensively with the IFDs to ensure compatibility.
