Is there any chance Avidyne would consider a replacement or upgrade to get ADSB in from this same hole?

Yes, it's called a Garmin GTX345 . . lol

I am doing that this week, since the in/out is all in one box, it's dual band and it plays well with the Avidyne IFD and the Aspens.

Lance, is a GTX-345 a drop in replacement for my AXP-340?

No, it needs a new tray and wiring

No I wish, but they had everything out of my panel so it made sense to do it now instead of waiting til later. Ironically the GTX345 was announced the day I picked up my airplane with the "new" AXP340 in February 2016. Now finally I'm correcting that mistake.

Luckily I sold my 340 before it was installed, was pretty sure it was outdated a few months after it finally started shipping (another product I was on the pre-buy list for). If Avidyne has a shortcoming has to be ADSB products in and out, I installed a NGT 9000 instead and it plays well with my G and Avidyne boxes but is also good as a stand alone solution. Only downside is the tiny display but its better than nothing if you don't send the traffic/weather to another box to view.

Can someone confirm that:

1.  Lynx NGT 9000 displays on IFD540 both its Dual ADSB and its Interrogated transponder traffic?
2. GTX345 displays on IFD540 its Dual ADSB and TAS605 interrogated traffic inputted into 345?

Thanks if anybody has this experience.

I hate to admit it but the GNX 375 has my attention. If Avidyne had a similar unit I’d jump on it in a heartbeat. This would be perfect service for my #2 navigator and #1 transponder. I don’t even care about the radio or VOR function. Come on guys, let’s get on it!

With Mark resurrecting this older thread, I can belatedly answer Tom Wolf's inquiry to his first question in the affirmative.  The NGT 9000+ (not the 9000 model, which doesn't interrogate legacy non-ADS-B transponders for TAS targets) can display ADS-B and TAS targets (merged) on the IFD through either a 429 channel, or the newer serial RS connection option that includes ADS-B weather from the Lynx as well.

I really blush to consider a G box but the 375 has my attention. Get ADSB in and out with a free gps navigator for less than the Lynx!? What am I missing?

You don't have a pair of Lynx screens, for one.  Not sure if you have the Lynx's capability to merge ADS-B and TAS targets, but if not, there's another.

Nothing beats a Lynx 9000+ so far as I know.  Plenty of cheaper options for sure, but they're not "better."
