Just got an IFD 550 that replaced my 540.

GPS know where the airplane is, but I get an error Nav database invalid.

Also get an error

No Nav Database

Reload database or enter waypoint.

I never got those errors in my 540.

Any ideas what is causing it?

You need to load a navigation database. You'll need a Jeppesen subscription. See section 6 of the pilot's guide ("General"-"Subscriptions") for details.
