I'm going to install one next month, the Garmin 345, and want to know where traffic and weather can/will be displayed.

I have an Avidyne 540 and use an Ipad running Foreflight.

I'd love a split screen on the the iPad or 540 that would show flight path on top and and traffic below.

Is that possible?

I have a ifd540 with a Garmin 345.  Traffic shows up on the Foreflight moving map display as well as the 540 moving map.  If you have available switches on you audio panel, you can route the "Traffic" and "Terrain" alerts so they can be turned on and off.  The "Terrain" alert can be rather annoying if you are flying in mountanous country VFR intentionally close to terrain.

I am about to do the same thing:   Add a 345 to my two IFD-540s.  I have XM weather now.

1)  Can I send XM weather to one 540 and ADS-B to the other?  Or is it one or the other?
2)  Are the traffic and terrrain alerts seperate?   i.e. Do they both go to one audio input?

Yes, you can send XM to one IFD and FIS-B to another.

Even with the data bus shared and all?

I might be better off with XM weather on the IFDs and traffic.  And use the ipad for the ADS-B weather.

Just trying to figure out how to tell the shop to wire it.

The IFD allows you to turn on the weather overlays, so you can always turn off what it displayed. I don't know if you can do that for traffic.

Foreflight can't do a split screen with traffic, at least not yet. Maybe someday.

I added the data block on the IFD 540 to show the traffic "circle" on the left side. Let's see how that works.

So, the airplane goes in Monday for the GTX-345 addition.

Again, I have two IFD-540s and XM weather and stormscope.

What should I ask for:

1) Where to route the weather?    Traffic?
2)  I want aduible traffic alerts on an audio panel button, so I can turn them OFF.
3)  Move OTher IFD alerts, (obstacles and terrain) to an unused audio panel button (same reason).

What else???

Who else has done this?
