Subject: Dual IFD Navdata Mis-Compare

I just updated the navdata on my IFD550 and 440 today. After updating both IFDs to the same navdata release, I received a message on start up of my IFD440 that the navdata has a mis-compare. The warning only shows up on startup. Due to the mis-compare, the flight plan will not sync between the two IFDs. I contacted Jepp, and they gave me a new navdata download for my IFD 550 and IFD440. I redownloaded the navdata to the IFD440, but I still receive the mis-compare message. I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue before I submit a trouble ticket with Avidyne.

Your IFD550 Nav Database is titled "United States+" whereas your IFD440 Nav Database is titled "United States"; is it normal for your IFD550 to have a slightly different Nav Database title from your IFD440?

Good question about the plus, but I never noticed it before until this issue. That said, I have had the same Jepp subscription for both IFDs for about 3 years, and I am about 6 months into this current annual subscription. No changes have been made to my Jepp subscription or IFDS, that I know of. Again, I have never had a mis compare before. Unsure if this is a Jepp issue or IFD issue.

Hmmm, not sure how you got the + on the 550.  What happens if you reload the nav data on the 550?

Can you download your event log from the 550, and send that to me along with the nav data DSF that you loaded on the 550?

I'll send you a new nav data DSF that you can load on both boxes and they'll match.

I will go out to my hangar tomorrow and redownload the navdata to the IFD550. I only redownloaded the 440, so hopefully doing the same for the 550 will rectify it. I will also download the event log and navdata DSF for the 550 and send them to you.

Update: I attempted to redownload the IFD550 navdata from Jeppesen, but I still had the mis compare showing on my IFD440. I sent AviSteve the event logs and navdata.dsf files for my 550. He sent me new navadata for my 550 and 440. I uploaded the new navdata to both GPSs, and the mis compare went away. Both GPSs are now synced again. The issue was with the navdata on the 550 which had the United States with a plus sign next to it. For some reason Jeppesen sent me navdata for the 10.3 IFD software, from what AviSteve said. I haven't done anything to my 550 or 440 other than update navdata/charts/obstacles, so it looks like it was on Jeppesen's end.

I wonder if this is a hint that 10.3 is within a charts cycle of releaseā€¦
