Hi

What is the current status of including VRP's in the IFD540 nav data? I believe the question is specific to Europe.

I had a conversation about this with Bill Schillhammer at AERO, and he indicated that Jepp is not very proactive with defining a naming convention for these. The issue is that the names are not unique (many airports have E, E1, E2, N, S, etc VRP's), so a 5-char convention needs to be defined. Jepp clearly has the data, since the VRP's appear on all the Jepp VFR/GPS charts (both graphically and in a table with lat/long).

Having these in the nav data would be a huge advantage over the 430. Flying in/out of a new airport with 5-10 of these is a pain since they need to be added manually as user WP. Of course, maintaining them manually is also an issue, since locations change slightly from time to time.

Hi Vince,

Yup, very familiar with VFR Reporting Points but we have deferred that out of the initial release.   We'll get them in at some point however - we definitely get how important/useful they are in Europe.
