(EASA Approval of IFD540 and IFD440 Status - 23 June 2015)
It's been approximately 10 months since our application was submitted and still no sign off. We did speak with the responsible party in EASA yesterday and learned:
1. They still have not finished processing the application. 2. They want us to amend the application to reflect Release 10.1.0.0 and the IFD440. 3. They will issue some additional Certification Review Items (CRIs) which are essentially issue/white papers that we have respond to that cover European concerns above/beyond standard FAA issues.
What we think will happen is that this will drag out until September 2015 when the FAA and EASA jointly recognize each others TSO/ETSO approvals. In principal that means overnight, and without any additional effort, US approvals will be recognized by EASA.
So, for EASA registered aircraft, I think expectations for cert should be no earlier than September 2015.

And I thought the FAA was bad. A least there is a potential ray of sunshine on the horizon, for our European friends.
