When loading an approach, and selecting an IAF on an RNav approach, with 10.1, you will now get a VSR and TOD calculated. (thanks)

BUT, if you select an IF as the entry point to the approach, then the VSR is left blank, and no TOD appears.

You can step around this by selecting an IAF as the entry point on that approach, and then instead going direct-to the IF, but that can be awkward. I spent a bit of time fiddling with this on the RNav 05 approach into CYFD, but this seems to be the case with all similar approaches.

Can you have a look at this?

Orest, I just flew into Niagra Falls today, and I experienced something similar to what you describe, however, I did have a TOD marker but no VSR. I did take a picture and will post when I get back home to the US where the Internet works properly. I'll have to review my notes to get the details correct, but it was something like this:

- RNAV 28R at KIAG
- Was direct to ROC from SYR
- Loaded RNAV 28R
- Selected the CUVTU IAF which also happens to be an IF (slightly different from yours)
- Pressed "activate approach" (I'm now direct to CUVTU)

No VSR, but I have a TOD marker. ATC kept me high for longer than I wanted and I ended up doing the mental math for VSR.

Odd that you had a TOD (if no VSR), wonder what waypoint was driving it?

I updated my post above to add the photo of the screen with the TOD marker but no VSR.  I had activated the RNAV28R approach using the CUVTU IF/IAF and I was direct to CUVTU at the time the picture was taken.
